Kreg Bandsaw Fence
I just received Shopsmith's latest ad, for the Kreg Bandsaw Fence System. I've been thinking about it and was wondering if this is worth the purchase? Any thoughts from others that might have this system?
Thanks
Thanks

I have the Kreg Fence on one of my saws and it works great. The deeper front rail is handy, but I don't know if I am sold on it being any better for resaw.

Pat:
I bought one a couple of years ago and like it for sawing, but I found a couple of drawbacks from my point of view.
First I find the portion of the fence that sticks out to the left can be a safety hazzard in my small space. (see IDH's picture) The second is that I find it made it more difficult to remove and replace the band saw on my 510 as te fence adds weight and gets in the way. Of course this is no problem if your saw does not have to be moved.
Would I purchase it knowing what I now know? The answer is yes. It has been a good addition to my shop.
Godd luck with your decision.

The rail bolts just to the left of the table slot and you have enough room to change blades without having to remove it.shydragon wrote:Idh, looking at your photo, do you have to remove the rails to replace your blades?

Pat in your second picture that is quite a resaw set up. Is the stacked feather board system somehow mounted to the extention piece of the table? Looks like it has an adjustment on the side. Any chance of seeing that closer or getting a set of plans. I am getting into resawing and new at it but sure is a better way to get some cheaper wood for turning pens and small projects.
thanks

I am not a fan of the Kreg Resaw Guide, but many of the members of the forum have built similar guides to fit the SS fence. I am sure someone has modified the Kreg Guide to work on the SS fence and will jump in here with some pics. I modify the guide bearing setup on my saws and I have had the best luck with the regular SS fence for resawing.ryanbp01 wrote:Will the resaw guide work with the Shopsmith bandsaw fence?
