I am sure someone has modified the Kreg Guide to work on the SS fence and will jump in here with some pics. I modify the guide bearing setup on my saws and I have had the best luck with the regular SS fence for resawing.

Today I became a big fan of the Kreg Fence and Resaw Guide. I am making a special Fibonacci Gauge measuring tool for my wife. It requires resawing 1/2" X 1/16" maple trips. I had never really attempted such narrow cuts before and am truly impressed by the accuracy of the Kreg guide. Once her new toy is completed I will post a picture. Jim

With my first alum table fence I was able to get leaves of wood off a 4" redwood board, consistently, that you could read through.
With the Kreg, same thing. That only says the blade and table and fence (and whatever else) were all properly set up.

The difference w/ Kreg tho was in sneaking up to the final cut-- SOooo easy!-- and then (I did this to see if I could do this) completely resetting the setup, re-setting up the setup using the adjustments available w/Kreg system, and getting the exact same cut without one trial run. This could have been done the same day or, of course, a month later if one had marked the settings. The Micro-Adj thingie is a must.

I Love the Kreg system. Even sold my original (hardly used) fence, and I'm a horrible pack-rat.

Btw, the fence has slots for T-nuts and such, and can be used on yo miter gauge.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I just saw the Kreg Bandsaw Fence in the Woodcraft catalog. http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/200524 ... Fence.aspx

Is the SS-sold one just rebranded, or does it have a different mounting system? Does anyone know if the Woodcraft-sold one will mount on the 500 series (cast-iron table) bandsaw?

I just bought the Kreg fence at a woodworking show here in VA... I mounted it to the aluminum table with a couple pieces of angle aluminum that I had kicking around. I have not used it yet, but I have a very good feeling about it. :-)

No idea about how it will fit on the cast iron table.

I picked one up at Woodcraft, figured I could make it fit somehow.

It does not fit out-of-the-box on the iron table, because there are no tapped holes to bolt it to. You mentioned using angle aluminium; I presume there are no tapped holes on the newer aluminium table either?

I have been considering getting the bandsaw table retrofit kit from SS, so it's kind of a tossup for me. There's no good place to mount angle aluminium to the bottom of the iron table, but if I have to drill & tap anyhow.... Do you have any pictures of how you mounted yours?

Hey Chris -

The aluminum table does already have tapped holes in the bottom that I used. I will try to take some pics this weekend and post, but basically, I used one at the back and one near the front. Looking at the bandsaw from the front, I put the fence on the right side (so I wouldn't have to take the fence off to change the blade). The angle aluminum is placed as backwards "ells." The fence has vertical mounting holes on the side of the rail, so I used the angle aluminum to make a vertical hole for the fence to mount to. I had to grind the angle aluminum down here and there so it would not interfere with the miter slot or the fence operation.

I say this is angle aluminum, but to be honest, I'm not sure what it is or where it came from. I just was poking around in my "jig part" box and found these ells from some previous project - they may be an unused part from something else. They were already drilled for the most part - I just had to make the hole on the Shopsmith side larger.

I also used some threaded rod to mount it to the table - this gave me the ability to fine-tune the height of the fence by using a couple nuts and washers (kind of like the way the extension tables are adjusted).

I think the Shopsmith version of the Kreg fence will mount on the left, and still let you change the blade. I'm not quite sure how they did that, unless they created some kind of funky cantilevered bracket.

Thanks for the pics, I like that system. I ended up drilling and tapping my cast iron table, which worked fairly well, but there wasn't enough material to align the guide block flush with the table. I think I will get the aluminium table retrofit and use L brackets like yours. Thanks for the idea!

If anyone's thinking about getting this fence, it is very nice, easy to assemble, and (relatively) easy to mount. I just used it to resaw a few pieces of scrap redwood down to about 1/8", and it works like a charm.

I am in the market to upgrade from the old iron table, and want to do a fence at the same time. I looked on the SS website and could not even find the Kreg fence. Was the add that came out for the Kreg fence electronic?
