Jointer, will it work?

I have a chance to pick up a model 4e jointer(serial #8280) in very good shape. The seller said it was from a 10ER SS, and it wouldn't work with the MarkV(he recently sold his 10ER and MarkV, for some reason this is all he has left). Is he right, this jointer is for a 10e and won't work on my MarkV?...

My reason was to make it a little easier to clean and paint. You answered my question--won't attempt it now.

thanks,

Legs/tubes removal ????

How do you remove the legs/tubes from the table saw table, extension table, etc.? Also, on the legs with the raising/lowering gears cut in them, do you mark the leg before removing in order to replace it in the exact same place, so the gears will work correctly? If so, what are some methods of marki...

Hi Jay, thanks for the great pics. It is a lot easier to work on the headstock with the motor out, that's the first thing I did, easy to turn the headstock into any postilion with the motor gone. My V's disassembled, I need to send the speed dial to get a new steel gear put in for the toasted old on...

spooge(eclectrolysis) tank for bench tubes

Nothing new, just a quick pictorial on a tube spooge tank for those who haven't tried it. These are the first tubes I’ve done. These bench tubes are from a 1956 Shopsmith Mark V found on CL for $75, nice because it has the 4” jointer included, going to clean it up and give it to my 23yr old son, Wy...

Speed dial toast!!

Took off the Mark V speed dial during dis-assembly and look what I found. Well, there's at least a few teeth intact!(I guess this is why you shouldn't turn the dial without the motor running) The teeth on the main body all look OK, thats a good thing. Anyone have an kextra speed dial handle they'd l...
