Ok, I gotta ask, has anyone tried anodizing the aluminum parts at home?

Saw this on a previous thread: http://www.thefintels.com/aer/homealuminumanodizing.htm This seems like a pretty easy/cheap process, aside from the fact that you need to handle large quantities of battery acid. I'm really curious if anyone has tried this for any of the aluminum tops/pieces for the SS.

This works well but cover up including a face shield. Those little wires do get loose and turn into little darts. Paul M Haha, Yeah, I found a few of those little darts sticking out from my jeans after using my wire wheel, and shortly thereafter upgraded from protective goggle...

A few things about MDF both positive and negative. Machines beautifully, but really hard on blades and router bits. If you plan on painting MDF, just know that it seems to drink paint like crazy. One way I've found to get around this is to mix a 50:50 mixture of carpenter's or Elmer's glue and water...

Need help with cleaning not-to-be-painted aluminum parts

So I've done a lot of reading about getting the alox off the parts not to be painted such as the fence and aluminum table. I've gotten my table to an acceptable place using some very fine sand paper and very fine steel wool, but am now feeling this was probably too abrasive and would like to try a d...

Just put rubber tire on my bandsaw. The bandsaw manual calls for vulcanizing cement which is mostly used for tire/rubber patching. I went to a few autoparts stores looking for this and finally went with Barge All-purpose cement which has the added bonus of being toluene free. Quick story: I got the ...

I have an old bandsaw with the old cast iron table and had to order the insert for it as well. If you have the old cast iron table the insert is 2.5 inches and has no clips or screws in it. It has some very subtle "tabs" around the edge of it. It takes some gentle pressure from a screw dri...

Hey guys! Thanx for all the advice. I've decided not to get the Rockler table and am seriously considering making my own or at some point upgrading with Shopsmith.

Question about upgrading bandsaw table/fence??

So I have an old Shopsmith Bandsaw magna with the old version cast iron table and was looking at upgrading it. Looking throught the SS accessory catalog, to upgrade to the aluminum table is around $116, but if I want a fence too, I'm looking at close to $200. My question: Does anyone see a problem w...

Thanks for the step-by-step JPG, I really appreciate all the advice. My expectations for the table have already begun adjusting and have quickly realized there is going to be wear and tear that will show which I'm rapidly becoming ok with.
